Step 1 Cleanse the area of skin where the Body Art is to be applied with rubbing alcohol. When the skin is clean and dry you can begin the stencil application. The use of alcohol not only cleans the skin, it also removes any natural oils as these will shorten the life of the temporary Body Art tattoo. Step 2 Place the Body Art Stencil on the skin ready for the colours to be applied. (If using an airbrush remember to check that the pressure does not exceed 20 psi.). We stock Stencil Stick which is a Body Art Stencil Adhesive, ideal for holding the stencil in place. Step 3 Use a light base coat such as white. This will make any subsequent colours stand out more than they would directly against the skin and make them appear more vibrant. Step 4 When applying the colours remember that several very light coats of colour are better than one solid coat as the Body Art Stencil will stay in place longer and also look more effective. If you are using several colours, work using the lightest colour first and finish with the darkest colour. Any overlapping of the colours leads to soft tones and subtle effects. (This is a general rule of thumb, but as you apply more stencils you will build up your own way of working with the designs.) Step 5 Now finish by using a light coat of setting powder or talcum powder. This will ensure that your Body Art Stencil lasts longer. Step 6 The finished design looks great and is not permanent. If you wish to remove it, simply use baby oil or rubbing alcohol. Step 7 If you wish your Body Art Stencil to look good and last longer, then advise your customer or friend to keep applying setting or talcum powder as this prolongs the life of the Body Art. So, after a shower before bed and first thing in the morning, apply the powder. Avoid contact with shampoo or anything containing oil as this will weaken the Body Art colours. Step 8 How long the Body Art last depends on the type of colours you have used and also the skin type of the person, but using the setting or talcum powder as advised can prolong its life. Generally the Body Art stencil will last between two and six days. Click here for our selection of Body Art Stencils |
